O nce upon a time,
I baked on occasion – banana bread here and there, maybe a birthday cake. And then, I didn’t. For years (decades!) I. Did. Not. Bake. I didn’t even have sugar or flour in my pantry, no kidding! So when my 12-year-old stepdaughter, Erin, asked if we could bake macarons, her newfound passion, naturally my first reaction was: I. Don’t. Bake. But let’s be honest, my aversion was no match her sweet face and enthusiasm! Off to the store for supplies we go.

…a word about “House Balthazar”
Balthazar: a large format wine bottle holding the equivalent of 16 normal bottles.
Further along my yellow brick road stands a storefront – ‘HB’ on the marquee, dazzling rows of macarons in the window, and glorious racks of sparkling wine behind the counter! I am thrilled to announce that in 2025, this dream becomes reality, as House Balthazar Macaron & Champagne Café will be opening its doors at Harvest Woodinville. I look forward to sharing this new and magical adventure with you!
